I CAN NEVER SHOW MY DISAPPOINTMENT FOR MANILA,
Maybe because it won’t even suffice.
It is neither handled well by its authorities, nor by its people.
Its surroundings, almost forsaken.
Why then, why then, can’t Manila have more?
THE CITY PLAN, WELL SHAPED, WELL MADE
Water ways and parks, everything, well played!
But sadly it wasn’t followed
A series of confusion would then go after.
WORLD WAR II PASSED BY
Destroying its awe-inspiring towers; leaving it then in ruins
Manila, Manila, why didn’t you prevent
All the bloodshed, the bloodshed that have spread?
MANILA, MANILA, YOU ROSE FROM THE ASHES
You had the potentials and all the chances
But your people had to waste them, desert them, didn’t they?
You could’ve had more, had more, had more Manila!
I OUGHT NOT TO BLAME, YOUR PEOPLE
They might think I do, but then I don’t ofcourse.
I daydream of your people, to make a better future for you.
You see it’s really sad, to see you like this so bad.
You could have more, should have more, must have more.
LEST YOUR PEOPLE WON’T MAKE A BETTER YOU
My thoughts will never cease; and my disappointments will never be at ease.
Call upon them for they owe you one
You have served as a haven for them too.
ALAS, I SHALL CONCLUDE
That Manila, you have a lot to improve
You’re young in experience, but old in age.
You won’t cease to exist, that’s one thing for sure.
Goodbye for now Manila, it was nice talking to you.
